Citroen

Citroen was founded in 1919 by Andre Citroen in Saint-Quen-sur-Seine in France. Previously part of the PSA Group. Citroen developed the world’s first front wheel drive, four wheel independent suspension vehicle in 1934. The DS model in 1955 was the first mass produced car with disc brakes. Swivelling headlights appeared in 1967 for some of their models. The 2CV (deux chevaux) model was launched in 1948 for rural dwellers .  Citroen purchased Maserati in 1968 and in 1970 start selling the SM model fitted with a Maserati 2.7 V6 engine. The SM was last produced in 1975 when in the year before Peugeot took ownership of Citroen that went into bankruptcy and then ended the alliance with Maserati.
