The German based vehicle manufacturer Porsche was founded at Stuttgart in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche. The company specializes in high performance sports cars, SUV’s and saloon cars. Currently owned by the VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group), popular models such as the 911, Cayman, Panamera, Macan and Taycan are their offerings. Ferdinand Porsche was also responsible for the development of the Volkswagen Beetle (“The People’s Car”) commissioned by the German government that wanted a simple, mass produced car. The first Porsche badged production vehicle from 1948 was the 356 sports car which was a small two door coupe, convertible and roadster that was rear engine and rear wheel drive. This model was produced until 1965.
